There had been a change of west country SSOA chairman, unlike last season where I was encouraged to arrange a Fowey weekend, the new chairman didn’t want it and would of stopped it if he could. I was asked by members to arrange another Fowey Rally this season but didn’t want to undermine the newContinue reading “Fowey Sadler Rally 2018 (Carter’s Cruise)”

Friday 25th May
This weekend there was a planned Sadler Rally in Fowey but the wind was looking a little light, the tide stream was with us 1345-1945hrs. Having waited for the tide to come in to get our punt out we stowed the gear and dropped the mooring at 1250hrs as crossing Falmouth Bay there was no helpContinue reading “Friday 25th May”
Sunday 20th May
We would have liked to have sailed a little longer on Sunday but we had to get back to our mooring and into the shore via our dinghy before 1400hrs due to the tide, so we just sailed across Falmouth Bay in a southeast 3, 6.5nm in 1.5hrs.
Saturday 19th May
This was the highlight of our day out getting in close for a photo of this classic. There has been lots of nice sailing weather in May so far but not a lot of wind, another weekend just the same but we were going out anyway. The forecast was var1-3 and when we gotContinue reading “Saturday 19th May”
Monday 14th May
The forecast over the weekend had been wet but the weather had turned out to be great. My wife Vicki and I had lots of homework to do and with the wet forecast had stayed home, now kicking ourselves having let a good weekend go, we decided to go sailing on Monday. The plan had beenContinue reading “Monday 14th May”
Monday 7th May
I had blown up the roll-up dinghy and tried the engine, which started 2nd pull but the gear selector would not engage so we stayed aboard all the weekend. After a weekend just lounging around and sleeping, we motored Elektra back to her mooring in Gillan Harbour.
Saturday 5th May
This was a hot and sunny weekend when everyone seems to go sailing but there was no wind. So we motored “Elektra” over to the Precuil River and dropped anchor.
How we have found “Elektra” gear after a year of ownership
We bought “Elektra” our Sadler 29 after searching the internet looking for the best on the market we could find at the time, she came with loads of gear which we had never had before with other yachts. After a year of use I thought I would share what we have found out about the gear.Continue reading “How we have found “Elektra” gear after a year of ownership”
Fast down wind sail!
The forecast was north-westerly force 5 gusting 6, but I think it was a little more! The forecast today was north then northwest force 5 gusting 6 which was a downwind sail, Vicki and I had sailed our last yacht quite a few times in the same sort or conditions but this would be the firstContinue reading “Fast down wind sail!”
Saturday 28th April
This weekend we were going to stay home and do some jobs but it looked like we would have to move “Elektra” to the shelter of Carne Creek due to the forecast of northeast wind on Sunday, so I suggested having another weekend away instead. I had some work which needed doing on Saturday firstContinue reading “Saturday 28th April”
